Join me behind the curtain of my creative process as I conceive, research, write, edit, and publish a book.
Hey everyone, this is Sondra Ann Turnbull coming to you from the Goddess Kindled Universe. This is my first live stream and, I'm not sure that I feel nervous but I'll just ... have a chat with you. The point of these daily live stream blips is to do a check in. I'm creating a little accountability framework for myself and hopefully giving you a chance to get to know me. So if you happen to catch me live and you ask questions and what have you I can talk to you live on camera, or, you know, maybe it's just a way for us to connect. So, this is just something new that I'm trying.
I thought this was a good time in my projects to start this particular activity because I'm at the end of one project and about to start the next one. And so, I get to ... you get to see a whole project being created: my next book. I'll take you through all of the things that I'm doing. Every day I'll do just a little check-in so that these won't be long videos, but there are lots of other ways that you can connect with me, and I'll probably put these videos up on YouTube, on my channel as well.
So, that is why. You will get to see the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything inbetween. And, my confusing days, and the days that I don't want to work, and the days where I feel really inspired, and the days where I'm dancing around the bloody office because, you know, either I need to get things moving, or I'm celebrating something that I think was really awesome.
And, I want to show you all of that. Because creating anything is a really emotional process, for me. And writing is my best way of expressing. And so we get to ... you'll get to see how I dig deeply into all of those things, and the practical things that I do as well, the tools I use to get the jobs done. And it's not all airy-fairy artistic creation. There's a lot of business stuff that goes into running a publishing company, even if it's only publishing one person. And so, you'll get a little bit of an insight into all of that as well.
If that interests you, then come back tomorrow, 9 am. I'll do a little check-in at 9 am on week days. [sigh] And I probably won't always be showered with my hair done and makeup on. Although, this morning, I thought I was putting brown eyeliner on. It's green, I don't know how I did it. My eyes just weren't working; I had the whole sleepy head going on.
If you hear any cat noises in the background (I'm just checking my notes) if you hear any cat noises in the background, it's our little cat called Deksel, calling for me to let her into the back yard, but it's been raining this morning, and it's too wet for her. And, she's just this little panther, she wants to be outside all the time.
Today I'm going to ... start going through the paperback copy of my first novel, Affery's Earth, which is the project that's ending. I've made some corrections to it and sent it back, and I'm waiting for the new proof copy to arrive. And, once I'm sure that all of that is finalised it will be ready to be published. And, I'll share that with you when it happens. But, in the meantime, I'll be taking notes on the magic that exists in this novel and pulling it out into the outline for my next book, which is called Embodying Earth. And, it will be a guide, an experiential guide to teach people how to play with the magic and experience the magic in this, in Affery's Earth, in my novel for themselves in real life.
I write magical realism for a reason. Because it's completely real, and there are ways that you can experience growth, and healing, and empowerment. And, I'm going to show you how you can take a story and make it real for yourself. I'll talk to you more about my experience of teaching people how to do that tomorrow. But, for now ... I hope this hasn't been too garbled. Please reach out to me and comment, or just like or ask questions. I'll be very happy to connect with you. And, thanks for watching! It's so lovely! [noisy vibration] Okay, my darlings I'll talk to you later, bye.
What's it all about?
This series of videos creates an accountability framework for me and shows you my creative process as I conceive, research, write, edit, and publish a book.
